Adult Learning Center

The learning and career center uses the NOVA Program as its primary training and educational tool. The program has been used in over 130 missions throughout the United States and Canada. The computer based curriculum focuses on reading and writing, English as a second language, high school diploma, GED preparation, and Testing of Adult Basic Education Certification (TABE).

The career center operates to assist residents build up their resume and job searching skills. Assistance in pursuing higher education at local colleges, universities, and technical institutes is also part of the career center operations.

Residents work daily toward their goal of achieving their high school diploma or GED. For residents who have completed high school, the learning center offers refresher courses in areas such as typing. These courses allow residents to maintain their job skills while searching for employment.

Volunteers assist staff in all areas of the learning and career center. Learning and Career Center graduates go on to pursue career training and higher education.
